The Photo Kyiv Fair 2018 | 2nd edition as flashes of cameras – it seems it has passed as quickly as a flash, bedazzled with its monumental works and leaving memories for the whole life. When we were making an announcement of the fair, we did not even imagine how far-reaching this event would become.

During four days we took delight in works of famous galleries, listened to lectured of the leading photographers and together with curious guests of the fair learned the modern art. A separate event of the Photo Kyiv Fair 2018 became an announcement of the results of the prestigious Bird In Flight award “For Innovative Approach to Сreating Photo Histories”.

The main idea of the Bird in Flight Prize`18 competition is to support the authors having a non-standard vision of photography. This year, the organizers of the award did not restrict the participants in choosing a theme or style of work. The Bird in Flight Prize jury included the founder of the independent publishing house Schilt Publishing Maarten Schilt, curator Hester Keizer, photographers Donald Weber, Arnis Balcus, Roger Ballen, Sasha Kurmaz and Roman Pyatkovka. Based on the votes, Valentin Bo became the winner with his project “Your Next Step is to Make Transmission”.
